ChatGPT Projects are fancy folders for your AI chats
OpenAI has announced the rollout of a new feature called “Projects” to its popular chatbot platform, ChatGPT. This new tool is essentially a folder system designed to make it easier to organize and keep track of multiple conversations or topics within ChatGPT.
According to a demo video released by OpenAI, users will be able to create new projects and customize their settings by editing the title, adding files and instructions, and even assigning colors to project icons. These projects will also have the ability to store previous chats, allowing users to easily access and reference earlier conversations related to that specific topic or task.
The potential use cases for this feature are quite extensive. For instance, users could employ Projects to plan a Secret Santa gift exchange or keep track of home maintenance tasks. The flexibility offered by ChatGPT’s new tool means that users can adapt it to fit their unique needs and workflows.
At present, the “Projects” feature is being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Teams users. However, OpenAI has stated that free users will gain access to this feature as soon as possible, while Enterprise and Edu users can expect to see it arrive early in the new year.
The introduction of Projects comes on Day 7 of OpenAI’s “12 days of ship-mas,” a series of announcements intended to highlight the company’s innovative features and updates. The previous reveals have included the release of the Sora video generator, ChatGPT’s Canvas view, and the $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro subscription.
