Donald Trump Arrives at Army-Navy Game, Meets ‘USA’ Chants with Salute During National Anthem
President-elect Donald Trump arrived at the 125th edition of the Army-Navy football game on Saturday, meeting a sea of “USA” chants and fanfare upon his arrival. The former president did not miss a beat, immediately saluting during the national anthem alongside service members in attendance.
The event took place roughly 15 miles away from the White House, marking Trump’s sixth time attending the prestigious annual contest since taking office in 2016. His presence was met with cheers and chants of “USA” as he entered the venue, Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
Throughout his presidency, Trump made it a point to participate in pre-game rituals, including the coin toss. Today’s event marks his first return to the Army-Navy game since 2020, accompanied by lawmakers, Cabinet nominees, and other high-ranking officials.
Trump’s attendance at this year’s contest comes amidst a heightened sense of excitement surrounding the game. Both the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen enter the matchup with combined records of 19 wins, marking the first time in nearly eight years that neither program has had their Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy hopes dashed by an early exit.
The meeting between these two storied programs will be a non-conference affair, with Army having secured its first conference title this season. The stakes are high, as the winner stands to claim the prestigious Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy, marking the first time since 2017 that both teams have achieved such a feat.
