
TikTok Influencer Steals $40K in Bitcoin from Saudi Royal, Avoids Jail Time
A disturbing case has come to light involving a 24-year-old TikTok influencer, Catherine Colivas, who has pleaded guilty to kidnapping, extortion, recklessly causing injury, theft, and possession of a firearm. Despite her involvement in a violent robbery targeting a Saudi Arabian royal with a background in crypto trading and luxury goods, Colivas managed to avoid jail time.
The incident took place in February last year when Colivas met the 23-year-old victim on a dating app. She invited him over for drinks and dinner at her home, where he was attacked by three men, including her boyfriend who had involvement with drug dealing. The attackers restrained the man using cable ties and threatened him at knifepoint, demanding $20,000 in cash. When the victim couldn’t meet their demand, he was forced to transfer $40,000 in Bitcoin after calling a friend for help.
Not satisfied with the cryptocurrency, the attackers invaded the man’s home, stealing designer clothing, electronics, and valuables. The victim, who suffered injuries to his wrists and head, immediately contacted the authorities after being released.
Colivas pleaded guilty to multiple charges, but her troubled past, fragile mental health, and youth were taken into consideration by Judge Nola Karapanagiotidis during sentencing. Additionally, the judge considered the death of Colivas’ brother, Andrew Colivas, a convicted criminal who passed away while she was awaiting trial.
As a result, Colivas has been sentenced to community corrections rather than serving jail time. Her co-accused, Paris Kennedy, 22, who had already served 90 days in jail prior to the sentencing, received a good behavior bond after pleading guilty to lesser charges of theft and burglary.
It is unclear how Colivas will continue her influencer career now that she has been convicted of such serious crimes. However, it appears that she has managed to avoid any significant time behind bars.
