Meta’s Threads App Surpasses 300 Million Users, Sees Accelerated Growth
In a recent announcement, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that Meta’s Threads app has reached a significant milestone – it now boasts over 300 million users. Furthermore, the platform has seen an extraordinary growth rate, with more than 100 million people using the service daily.
This new development marks a substantial increase from earlier this year when the app hit 275 million users in early November. The accelerated growth is a testament to Threads’ strong momentum and popularity among its user base.
Interestingly, Apple’s latest rankings revealed that Threads was the second-most downloaded app of 2024, trailing only shopping app Temu. This impressive performance has likely contributed to Meta’s decision to begin experimenting with ads on the platform in early 2025, according to a recent report by The Information.
In related news, rival social media service Bluesky has also seen significant growth, nearly doubling its user base in November and currently boasting over 25 million users. While still much smaller than Threads, Bluesky’s progress has seemingly inspired Meta to incorporate some of the decentralized platform’s innovative features into their own offering.
