Lost Luggage? Share Your AirTag Location With These Airlines
Apple has rolled out a new feature allowing users to share the location of their AirTags with airlines, making it easier to track down lost luggage. As of December 17, 2024, three major airlines – United Airlines, Delta, and Air Canada – are already on board to accept shared AirTag locations.
This innovative service enables travelers to create a temporary link that can be sent to the airline’s lost luggage team or even friends and family helping with the search. With this link, they will have access to the real-time location of your AirTag on a map from any web browser.
The feature is a significant improvement over the current system where users would typically send screenshots to show the location of their missing item, which becomes outdated as soon as it’s sent. By contrast, Apple’s live tracking allows airline representatives to see the current location of the lost luggage in real-time.
Despite initial concerns about the AirTag’s potential for privacy invasions, it seems Apple is still committed to improving and expanding its capabilities.
