Trailer: ‘Rule Breakers’ will bring Afghanistan’s first-ever girls’ robotics team to the big screen on March 7
A powerful true story is set to hit theaters in March, as a new trailer has been released for “Rule Breakers,” a film that tells the inspiring tale of Afghanistan’s first all-girls robotics team. Directed by two-time Academy Award winner Bill Guttentag and starring Nikohl Boosheri and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, this gripping drama is set to be released on March 7.
The movie follows the courageous journey of a group of Afghan girls who formed the country’s first-ever all-girls robotics team. As the Taliban took control of the country in 2021, they made it illegal for women to receive an education in science and technology, forcing some members of the team to flee their homes and risk everything to pursue their dreams.
The film is inspired by the real-life story of The Afghan Girls Robotics Team, who gained international attention after being denied entry into the United States in 2017 due to visa issues. Despite this setback, they were eventually granted special humanitarian visas, allowing them to participate in the First Global Challenge robotics competition.
