Title: New Decentralized Supercalculator Being Built with 1.5 Million Nodes
The Nexus, a cutting-edge decentralized supercomputer project, has sparked significant interest in the global community. The recent trial network, which operated from December 9 to 13, confirmed that there is a high demand for innovation-led innovations in blockchain and AI areas. According to Daniel Marin, the CEO of Nexus, despite the progress made, much work still needs to be done to scale the project globally.
The test network demonstrated an astonishing 37% of traffic originating from mobile devices, with some countries such as Ethiopia and Poland witnessing a higher proportion of mobile interactions surpassing that of traditional desktop computers. Recognizing this trend, Nexus has simplified the process for anyone to join the network using any device.
Although the nodes are decentralized, Nexus maintains close oversight over the supercomputer processes. Marin emphasized that his company is currently selecting programs to be integrated into the network, with plans to establish a review process in the future to allow new programs to be submitted.
It’s worth noting that Nexus is not the first organization to harness distributed computing power. The SETI@home project, which utilized internet-connected computers to search for extraterrestrial intelligence, concluded in 2020. Other initiatives such as Internet Computer, Golem Network, and Zennet have also developed similar infrastructure.
Despite this, Marin acknowledges that Nexus is working towards a unique goal – building a global-scale supercomputer.
