Google Search will reportedly have a dedicated ‘AI Mode’ soon
According to a recent report from The Information, Google is planning to introduce a new “AI Mode” feature in its search engine. This mode would allow users to access an interface similar to the company’s Gemini AI chatbot directly from the search results page.
As stated by The Information, Google will display an option to switch to AI Mode at the top of the results page. Once activated, this new mode would provide a conversational experience for users, offering links to related webpages and a search bar that prompts users to “Ask a follow-up…” below the conversational answer.
This development comes as OpenAI has recently rolled out its search mode in ChatGPT for all users, likely putting pressure on Google to consolidate its own search and AI capabilities. In recent months, Google has been expanding its AI search summaries feature, which now covers dozens of countries worldwide after an initial rollout.
