Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fans have plenty to cheer about after their team’s convincing 27-17 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round of the College Football Playoff. With this win, they will be heading to the Sugar Bowl to face off against Georgia.
The game started strong for Notre Dame, with Jeremiyah Love scoring a massive touchdown early on by scampering for an impressive 98-yard run. The Fighting Irish continued their momentum as Riley Leonard found Jayden Thomas for a score just moments later, putting them up 14-0. Indiana was only able to muster a field goal in response.
The rest of the game saw Notre Dame dominate, with Indiana struggling to get anything going on offense. Even when they finally managed to score two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, it was too little, too late. Leonard finished with an impressive 23-of-32 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Faison led all receivers with seven receptions for 89 yards.
This victory sets up a thrilling matchup against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day in New Orleans.
