Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1282 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, December 22nd
As we enter the festive season, it’s time to put our puzzle-solving skills to the test once again. Today’s Wordle challenge presents a unique opportunity for you to flex your linguistic muscles. But before I get started, let me warn you that my competitive streak has taken a hit as I failed to beat the bot today.
To start with, I must confess that SUPER wasn’t exactly a super guess, but recent Superman trailer nostalgia got the better of me. Fortunately, this opened up more possibilities as I had 237 remaining solutions. My next move was to eliminate vowels (excluding Y) by choosing RATIO and testing if I could get the ‘R’ in green. Although it didn’t work out that way, my hunch about the word having an “A” proved correct. This led me to DRAWN, which thankfully revealed four green boxes. The only logical conclusion was BRAWN – and win I did!
Interestingly, this marks the second time we’ve seen a ‘B’ word in recent Wordle history. Perhaps it’s a sign that I should have gone with my gut instinct.
Competitive Wordle Score: A Recap
For those who are interested in tracking their progress, here’s how the scoring system works:
* Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points;
* guessing in 2 is worth 2 points;
* guessing in 3 is worth 1 point;
* guessing in 4 is worth 0 points;
* guessing in 5 is -1 points;
* guessing in 6 is -2 points, and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you manage to beat your opponent, you’ll receive a score of 1. In case of a tie, the result remains at 0, but if you lose, expect a score of -1.
It’s entirely up to you whether you keep track of daily scores or start fresh each day. And don’t forget that Fridays offer double points, so be sure to make the most of it!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term “brawn” originates from Old French “braon,” which roughly translates to “fleshy part” or “muscle.” This phrase is derived from Late Latin “bracchium,” meaning “arm” (inspired by classical Latin “bracchium”). Over time, the word evolved in English to describe physical strength and muscularity.
