A French Banking Giant to Soon Offer Cryptocurrency Services
The Hexarq, a major French bank, has announced that it will soon be launching cryptocurrency services for its clients. This move comes after the bank received permission from the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), France’s financial market regulator, to operate in the digital assets sector.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Hexarq sees offering these services as a way to remain competitive and retain their customer base. It is expected that the bank will start providing these services by 2025.
It is worth noting that France has recently become one of the first major EU economies to open up applications for cryptocurrency service provider licenses under the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation. The AMF began accepting such applications on July 1, ahead of the December 30 deadline for the new regulations.
In related news, Gemini, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will be launching operations in France, expanding its presence across Europe and strengthening its strategic position within the continent’s robust regulatory environment.
