
A tragic incident has shaken the community in Chamblee, Georgia. According to reports from local sources, a 37-year-old realtor was killed in a suspected DUI crash involving an illegal immigrant.
The victim, Jimmy Chang, was described by his family and friends as a dedicated professional who had made significant contributions to the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) since 2017. His untimely death has left everyone in shock.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the suspected DUI driver, later identified as an illegal immigrant, ran a red light at a high speed, resulting in a catastrophic collision that claimed Jimmy’s life and injured four others.
The suspect, Irias-Ruiz, faces multiple charges including homicide by vehicle in the first degree, DUI, reckless driving, speeding, and possession of alcohol by someone under 21. Additionally, he was also driving with no insurance, no license, and a suspended registration.
Chang’s family is reeling from the sudden loss, with his brother, Jason, expressing their devastation in an interview with WSB-TV: “It’s devastating for all the family right now, still can’t process that he’s gone. He impacted a lot of lives.”
The Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) also shared a tribute to Jimmy Chang, stating: “With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the AREAA Atlanta chapter BOD would like to share the news of the sudden passing of our Chapter President and dear friend, Jimmy Chang… Since joining the AREAA Atlanta Chapter in 2017, Jimmy has been an integral part of our community, demonstrating unwavering kindness, dedication, and leadership – all in a style that is uniquely Jimmy.”

The Chamblee Police Department has not yet commented on the incident.
