Interpol Issues Red Notice to Hex Founder Richard Heart
Richard Heart, the founder of cryptocurrency project Hex, has been placed on Interpol’s global wanted list through a Red Notice. The move follows allegations of tax fraud and assault in Finland.
The notice is a formal request to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal actions. However, it does not constitute an international arrest warrant.
Finnish authorities claim that Heart evaded taxes between 2020 and 2024, with the alleged unpaid dues amounting to hundreds of millions of euros.
The Red Notice comes as a result of Finnish authorities issuing a remand order against Heart on September 13, 2024. The accusations are based on allegations that he failed to file business tax returns for multiple years and omitted information about his income in pre-filled personal returns. It is alleged that Heart received income from business activities that should have been declared to the tax administration for assessment.
The authorities believe that by not declaring this income, Heart avoided paying a significant amount of taxes. The total amount allegedly evaded is reportedly hundreds of millions of euros.
In addition to the tax fraud allegations, there are also claims that he assaulted a minor in Finland.
