Do Kwon’s Appeal Dismissed: Montenegro’s Court Upholds Extradition Ruling (Report)
In a recent development, the Constitutional Court of Montenegro has dismissed an appeal filed by Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs. The court’s decision upholds the earlier extradition ruling against Kwon, paving the way for his potential extradition to either South Korea or the United States.
According to reports, Kwon’s appeal was rejected on grounds of legal inconsistencies, with the court dismissing his arguments of procedural unfairness and violations of his rights. This ruling significantly narrows down Kwon’s legal options to delay his extradition.
Kwon has been under intense scrutiny since the catastrophic collapse of TerraUSD (UST) and Luna tokens in May 2022, resulting in a devastating $40 billion market loss. Both South Korea and the United States have requested his extradition, citing financial crimes such as fraud and market manipulation. After fleeing from South Korea, Kwon traveled through several countries, including Singapore, the UAE, and Serbia, before being arrested in Montenegro in March 2023 for attempting to travel with a forged passport.
The ruling now leaves Kwon’s legal fate hanging precariously, with analysts predicting that Montenegro may ultimately send him to the United States, where he faces more extensive charges related to the Terra-Luna collapse.
