I’m thrilled to report that James Bond has officially been confirmed as part of the Doctor Who canon! As a massive fan of both franchises, I’m absolutely delighted by this unexpected turn of events. In the latest episode of ‘Joy to the World’, we caught a sly reference that has sent shockwaves throughout the Whovian community.
It’s no secret that Steven Moffat, the show’s writer and executive producer, loves to include Easter eggs in his scripts. And boy, did he ever deliver this time! As Kristy Puchko so aptly put it: “From ancient aliens to Bond, James Bond.” It seems Moffat has taken the liberty of incorporating Ian Fleming’s iconic spy into the Doctor Who universe.
Fans are already going wild, speculating about how James Bond could fit into the show’s narrative. Some are even theorizing that perhaps the Doctor will team up with Bond to take on a villainous threat that spans galaxies. Can you imagine it? “Bond, [insert villain name here], is an alien from the planet… Oh wait, no, he’s just an agent working for MI6 trying to stop an intergalactic conspiracy!”
As a critic, I have to admit that this twist raises so many exciting questions about the show’s future. How will they balance Bond’s world with the Doctor’s? Will we see Bond facing off against some of the Whoniverse’s most iconic villains?
While some might be skeptical, I believe Moffat and his team are more than capable of making this bold choice work. After all, as Kristy so astutely pointed out, they’ve already tackled ancient aliens! Why not add James Bond to the mix?!
Stay tuned for more updates on how this shocking development will play out in future episodes.
