Bluesky has officially launched its long-awaited Trending Topics feature within the search function of its platform. The new feature is now available for both desktop and mobile app users, marking one of the most highly requested additions by the community.
The Trending section will showcase the top viral content currently popular on the platform, with a selection of topics already ranking high, including Christmas-related posts, the classic horror film Nosferatu, and Wikipedia, which has unsurprisingly gained traction due to Elon Musk’s recent involvement. Users can access this feature by clicking the search function in both desktop and mobile versions, or opt-out entirely through settings.
It’s worth noting that any terms that have been muted by individual users will not appear within Trending topics. This added layer of control allows for a more tailored experience for each user.
Bluesky has made significant strides in recent months, with the platform surpassing 25 million registered users. A notable influx of new accounts came after users fled X (Twitter) following the US elections. Bluesky’s unique selling points include its high engagement levels and virtually bot-free environment, both stark contrasts to its rival platforms.
While the Trending Topics feature is a major milestone for the platform, there are still several highly requested features on the horizon. These include bookmarks, editing capabilities, verification badges, and private posts.
