Bluesky Launches Trending Topics Feature in Search
In a significant move, social media platform Bluesky has launched its Trending Topics feature in beta, marking one of the most highly-anticipated updates by users. This new addition is already available on both desktop and mobile apps.
The trending section displays the hottest content currently circulating on the platform, with topics like “Christmas”, “Nosferatu” and “Wikipedia” (thanks to Elon Musk) currently leading the way. It’s accessible via a simple click on the search function in both versions or by disabling it entirely through settings.
For added control, users can also mute specific words that they no longer wish to see. As a result, these muted terms will not appear in Trending topics either.
This milestone is part of Bluesky’s ongoing efforts to improve and expand its features. Just recently, the platform hit an impressive 25 million users, many of whom have joined after fleeing X following the US elections. Notably, Bluesky has managed to maintain a high level of user engagement while avoiding the issues of bots and harassment commonly found on other platforms.
Despite this achievement, some requested features still await implementation, including bookmarks, editing, verification badges and private posts.
