Microsoft Warns Windows Users—Do Not Update Your PC This Way
In a warning that is likely to cause concern among many Windows users, Microsoft has issued an unusual alert for those who plan on updating their PCs. The company has confirmed that under certain circumstances, Windows 11 24H2 updates can have unintended consequences, leaving your device in a state where it cannot accept further security updates.
According to reports from Windows Latest, the issue arises when using media to install Windows 11, version 24H2, with the October or November security updates. This occurs only if these updates are included as part of the installation process, and is not a problem for devices that receive the updates through Windows Update.
The situation has been described by Microsoft as “a very small number of PCs” being impacted, but for those who do fall into this category, there are steps that can be taken to rectify the issue. In order to resolve the problem, users will need to download the Media Creation tool and create a fresh media file before reinstalling the operating system.
It’s not been a smooth sailing period for Microsoft and its Windows 11 update, with various issues and controversies surrounding the rollout in recent weeks.
