Montenegro Shuts Down Do Kwon’s Last Chance to Avoid Extradition
The government of Montenegro has reportedly shut down the last resort for Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs and Terra (LUNA), to avoid extradition. According to sources, a Montenegrin court dismissed an appeal filed by Kwon, paving the way for his potential extradition to South Korea.
As previously reported, Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in September, sparking widespread interest and concerns about the fate of the Terra ecosystem. Since then, there have been various attempts to secure Kwon’s release or prevent his extradition.
The government of Montenegro had initially agreed to consider a plea for asylum, but this option seems to be off the table now that the appeal has been dismissed. If extradited, Kwon could face charges related to fraud and market manipulation in South Korea.
Kwon’s legal team had argued that the arrest was based on “unfairly” obtained evidence, while Montenegro’s authorities claimed they followed proper procedures. However, the court disagreed with this assessment, and now Kwon faces a significant risk of extradition.
In a separate development, some sources suggest that Kwon may have lost access to his assets in Montenegro, including multiple luxury properties and bank accounts. This could significantly impact his ability to fund legal battles or pay for other expenses.
As the situation unfolds, it remains unclear what steps Kwon’s team will take next. However, one thing is certain: this drama has only scratched the surface of the complex web surrounding Terraform Labs and its collapse.
