JONATHAN TURLEY: Biden’s veto of Judges Act makes him a craven partisan, not a Framer
In his recent speech at the Department of Labor on December 16, 2024 in Washington, DC, President Biden has once again shredded any claim to being a president who could put the public interest ahead of petty political interests. His decision to veto the Judges Act is a craven display of partisan politics that would make even the most cynical observer blush.
It’s ironic that this move by Biden is reminiscent of John Adams’ infamous use of the Alien and Sedition Acts, which were used to arrest his political opponents. While some have attempted to draw comparisons between Biden and Adams, it’s clear that neither the context nor the intentions are comparable.
