Title: Ripple Exec Takes Dig at SEC on Christmas
Date: December 26, 2024
As the year comes to a close, it seems like the cryptocurrency industry is getting some unexpected holiday cheer. In a surprising move, a Ripple executive has taken a dig at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), hinting that its regulatory regime is about to be overhauled.
Speaking to U.Today, Schwartz slammed the SEC for failing to provide clear guidance on cryptocurrency regulation. “Obviously the SEC can’t tell you what the rules are. If they do, you’ll just comply with them,” he said in response to the SEC’s lawsuit against Coinbase.
Ripple and the broader cryptocurrency industry have emerged victorious from this unexpected turn of events. According to recent reports, Gensler has confirmed his departure from the agency in less than a month. Additionally, Paul Atkins, a pro-crypto libertarian, has been nominated to replace him. Moreover, Caroline Crenshaw and Jaime Lizárraga, two anti-crypto commissioners, are leaving the agency as well.
In essence, it seems like Ripple is gaining traction by leveraging these changes at the SEC.
