NYT ‘Strands’ Today: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Friday, December 27th
As we approach the end of the year and a new one on the horizon, I’m thrilled to provide you with today’s hints, spangram, and answers for this week’s NYT ‘Strands’. It’s been an absolute pleasure sharing these puzzles with you throughout 2024. However, it is time to pass the torch to my colleagues Paul Tassi and Kris Holt.
Before we dive into the latest puzzle, let me remind you that Strands is a fun twist on classic word search games. Each day, we’re given a new theme and tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit this theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.
Today’s Theme: A blast from the past
Hint #1: Take a trip down memory lane.
Hint #2: You might think of vinyl records, cassette tapes, or VHS tapes during this time period. To help you uncover all the words, here are the first two letters of every word, including the spangram. TK SO RE CD BO HI
Today’s Spangram: RETRO
To aid in your quest for answers, I’ve included the full list of words below: MIXTAPE CASSETTE TAPE VHS BANDS CDs PLAYER HI FI BOXY SOUND SYSTEM REMIX
Here’s a breakdown of how I approached today’s puzzle:
I started by identifying the spangram RETRO at the center of the grid. From there, I focused on building out the words that fit this theme, including MIXTAPE and CASSETTE TAPE which are closely tied to RETRO.
The toughest part was finding BANDS as it required a good understanding of the theme and the letters provided. Once I cracked that, the rest fell into place.
It’s been an absolute pleasure sharing these puzzles with you throughout 2024. Before I bid farewell for now, let me know how you fared on today’s puzzle in the comments below.
