Best Buy has launched a new January sale, slashing the prices of the latest Google Pixel 9 series and also offering significant discounts on the 2023 Pixel 8 range. In addition to these price cuts, the retailer is providing surprisingly generous trade-in promotions.
The new deals include:
* Google Pixel 9: $150 off the base model, bringing the price down to $649
* Google Pixel 9 Pro: $150 off, now priced at $949
* Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: $150 off, now available for $1,049
* Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: $300 off, with a new price tag of $1,499
Meanwhile, the 2023 Pixel 8 series has also seen significant discounts:
* Google Pixel 8: $200 off, now priced at $499
* Google Pixel 8a 5G: $100 off, bringing the cost down to $399
* Google Pixel 8 Pro: $350 off, with a new price of $649
What’s more surprising is Best Buy’s trade-in promotion. Typically, retailers offer low trade-in values for older devices, but Best Buy is offering some impressive figures.
For example, the company will pay out $395 for the Pixel 6 Pro, which is significantly higher than what other retailers usually offer. Amazon, in a recent sale, offered just $5 for a Samsung Galaxy S8, while Google itself only offered $35 for the Google Pixel 5.
In comparison, Best Buy’s trade-in values are a breath of fresh air in this industry. The retailer will give you $200 for the now-defunct Pixel 5, and almost $400 for the older Pixel 6 Pro when buying a brand new Pixel 8 device.
While it can’t match Samsung’s valuation of $500 for a Google Pixel 1 when purchasing the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Best Buy’s prices are still respectable. The fact that you can buy a brand new Pixel 8 device for under $500 is an impressive offer, especially considering the device won’t be wildly different from the newer Google Pixel 9 range.
The Pixel 8 has six years of Android updates and security patches left, takes some of the best still photography on the market, and has access to almost all of Google’s AI tool suite (you will need the Pro version to access all features). Some exclusive features of the Pixel 9 series are also migrating to the Pixel 8 lineup.
Overall, these deals make it an excellent time to consider upgrading or purchasing a new device.
