Title: 2025 Might Be Year of Corporate Bitcoin Adoption, According to Bitwise CEO
In a recent statement, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the prominent cryptocurrency investment firm Bitwise, Brian Kelly, expressed his optimism about corporate adoption of Bitcoin in 2025. He stated that he believes this year might be the turning point for institutional investors and publicly traded companies to start adopting digital assets, including Bitcoin.
Kelly’s statement contradicts previous predictions, as corporate Bitcoin adoption has been largely stagnant, with MicroStrategy (MSTR) mostly being the only engine driving the train alongside some mining firms. The data also suggests that only 22 companies have more than 1,000 BTC on their balance sheets.
The lack of significant corporate adoption in recent years can be attributed to various factors such as regulatory uncertainty and market volatility. However, Kelly believes that institutional investors are now better equipped to navigate these risks and take a more active role in the cryptocurrency market.
Notably, even giants like Microsoft have failed to spark widespread adoption among their shareholders, with an astonishing 99% rejection of a proposal to assess Bitcoin investment. This development further highlights the ongoing skepticism about Bitcoin’s potential as a store of value.
Recent data also suggests that chief financial officers (CFOs) are not yet convinced that Bitcoin is a viable option for corporate treasuries. In fact, only a small portion of CFOs view Bitcoin as a store of value.
Given these factors, it seems unlikely that 2025 will be the year of significant corporate adoption.
