**My Favorite Phones of 2024, Ranked**
As I look back at the year in mobile technology, it’s hard to ignore the impressive advancements we’ve seen in foldable phones. One device, however, has truly stood out from the rest – and that is the Honor Magic V3.
At just 9.4mm thick when folded, this phone is a marvel of engineering. Its innovative design allows for a significantly more compact form factor compared to other foldables on the market. And let’s not forget its impressive specifications: a massive battery and an unparalleled Periscope zoom lens.
Unfortunately, the Huawei Mate XT doesn’t quite make it into my top spot due to its exorbitant price tag of $2,800 (although I must admit, the double folding design is nothing short of mesmerizing). The inability to run Google apps natively and durability concerns also weighed against it.
Instead, the crown goes to Vivo’s X200 Pro and X100 Ultra. These phones are essentially siblings, sharing identical software and a main selling point: that 200-megapixel Periscope zoom lens with an industry-leading 1/1.4-inch image sensor. I’ve never seen anything like it – the level of detail and bokeh captured is simply unparalleled.
Both phones also boast powerful silicon, excellent battery life, and Vivo’s exceptional image processing capabilities. The X100 Ultra and X200 Pro have turned me into an aspiring photographer, snapping dozens of photos daily whenever I’m outside. It’s hard to imagine any other device surpassing the level of quality these cameras deliver.
While I do believe 2025 will bring new innovations in AI, battery efficiency, and thinner designs – particularly with foldables – I fear that we may have reached the pinnacle of camera hardware on phones. The Vivo X200 Pro and X100 Ultra are truly the best, and it’s hard to imagine anything better coming along anytime soon.
