
The Remaining Issues with Path of Exile 2’s Early Access Endgame
As I ventured further into the depths of Path of Exile 2’s early access endgame, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of frustration wash over me. Despite enjoying my time in the game, I’ve come across several issues that need to be addressed if this is going to truly shine.
First and foremost, let’s talk about Death Maps. The system currently in place, where dying results in significant losses, feels like more of an annoyance than a challenge. It’s not just the loss of progress on that specific map, but also the impact it has on my overall experience. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve found myself repeating the same maps over and over again simply to recoup my losses.
The Magic Find system is another issue that needs to be revisited. The meta of stacking as much MF gear as possible to achieve absurd farming results only serves to create an environment where speed clearing tough maps becomes a necessity rather than an enjoyable experience. It’s not about the game being challenging, but rather how it’s currently designed to favor those who are willing to put in the time and effort to optimize their build for maximum reward.
Furthermore, I’d like to address the Waystone management aspect of the game. As someone who enjoys playing without trading, I find myself struggling to manage my Waystones effectively. The current system makes it feel like a chore, rather than an engaging part of the gameplay experience.
Lastly, I want to touch on the Ascendancy Trials. These trials are nothing short of infuriating. Long, punishing, and filled with stacking negative modifiers, they’re more of an exercise in patience than a fun challenge. I’ve lost hours of my life trying to complete these trials, only to come away feeling exhausted and demotivated.
Despite all these issues, I do want to emphasize that Path of Exile 2 is still a game that has the potential to be truly exceptional. The core gameplay loop remains enjoyable, and there’s no shortage of content to explore. However, addressing these remaining issues will be crucial if the endgame experience is going to improve.
Ultimately, I believe there’s a fine line between challenging and annoying in an RPG, and it feels like Path of Exile 2 has crossed that line at times. With some serious tweaks to the systems in place, I’m confident that this game can reach its full potential.
