Despite its lukewarm reception from critics and fans alike, Squid Game Season 2 has managed to wrap up the majority of its storylines in a satisfying manner. However, it appears that the show is far from over. A crucial post-credits scene has been flying under the radar, revealing potential plot developments for future seasons.
As one might expect, this final sequence teases the upcoming events in the series. Unfortunately, many viewers may have missed the opportunity to see it due to its brevity and placement at the very end of episode 7’s credits. But fear not, dear reader! We’re here to fill you in on what went down.
The scene begins by showing three players, including #100, who has been consistently seeking ways to continue the games despite being deeply in debt, gazing up at a hanging version of the robot girl from Red Light, Green Light. The group is further comprised of #096 and #353, whose significance remains unclear at this time. This brief montage also introduces a new, larger robot – a boy wearing a hat – which could potentially play a crucial role in future episodes.
What appears to be a literal red light and green light is displayed, attached to a train crossing indicator, set against the backdrop of a mock house facade. It’s unclear if this scene has any deeper significance or merely serves as a teaser for upcoming events.
While some may question the necessity of such a post-credits scene, it’s clear that Squid Game Season 2 has concluded its main storyline, leaving little room for doubt that the games will continue in future seasons. With Gi-hun and his remaining allies either captured by the Front Man or struggling to stay alive, there’s still much to be resolved.
In an effort to preserve some mystery surrounding the next installment, I’ll refrain from speculating on what Gi-hun might face in the season finale. Instead, it’s possible that his opponent could be anyone other than the enigmatic Front Man, opening up a multitude of potential adversaries for our beleaguered protagonist.
As we look forward to Season 3, which is reportedly set to release in 2025, fans can expect a thrilling ride filled with suspense and intrigue.
