Animoca Brands Co-founder Yat Siu’s X Account Hacked to Promote Fake Solana Memecoin

The X account of Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, has been hacked, with the attacker using it to promote a fake Solana memecoin called MOCA. The token impersonates Animoca Brands and its associated Mocaverse NFT collection.

It appears that the hacker used the compromised account to retweet several posts about the fake token, despite some initial attempts to promote it being removed from the platform. The hack is likely part of a broader phishing campaign targeting multiple crypto-related X accounts, with the attacker employing a consistent phishing strategy to trick users into revealing their credentials.

Victims were sent fake copyright infringement emails creating a sense of urgency and panic, which often led them to reset their passwords and two-factor authentication settings, granting the attacker access to their accounts.
