Apple’s latest update to its Mail app has brought a significant change – the introduction of a new categorization feature in iOS 18.2. This new feature aims to make email management more streamlined and efficient, automatically sorting messages into different categories based on their content.
To utilize this feature, you’ll need to navigate to your inbox and tap the three horizontal dots in the top right corner. If it’s already set to Categories, you can skip to the next steps. However, if it’s not, simply tap those dots again and select List View instead.
It’s essential to ensure important emails land in the “Primary” category. To do this, find an email from a sender you trust (like the CyberGuy newsletter) and long-press on it. Tap the arrow pointing leftward and then click where it says “Categorize Sender.” Next, select Primary, followed by Continue.
By performing this action manually, Apple’s Mail app will learn from your input and adjust its categorization accordingly over time. It’s crucial to periodically check other categories to guarantee important emails aren’t misclassified.
The new email categorization feature requires some patience and customization to transform your inbox into a more organized space.
