I’m a Blue State Mayor and the Future of Homelessness Scares Me
As I sit here on Christmas Eve, surrounded by festive decorations and warm cheer, my mind wanders to the ghosts of California’s past, present, and potential future. Three apparitions appear before me: a warning, a lamentation, and a haunting.
The first ghost would be the one that says, “Blame not me for this misery. This is man’s doing?” Would he point to the people dying on sidewalks and say, “I see a tent left empty. If these policies do not change, this will be their fate?”
Would he show me Christmas dinner tables where people laugh, shake their heads, and lament California’s self-destruction?
