New Reports Claim Nintendo Switch 2 Will Have PS4 Pro Power, With A Catch
The latest rumors surrounding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 have revealed some astonishing information regarding its performance capabilities. According to these reports, the new console will boast a power level comparable to the PlayStation 4 Pro, a significant leap from the current capabilities of the original Switch that are more akin to those found in the PS3 era.
While this news might initially be met with excitement by gamers, there is, however, a crucial catch. The PS4 Pro-level power would only be available when the device is docked, not when it’s used in handheld mode. The Switch’s impressive sales figures, with over 146 million units sold worldwide, demonstrate that its lack of raw processing power is not a significant deterrent for gamers. The same can be expected from the next generation of the console. As long as Nintendo provides a clear explanation about the changes in the new system and differentiates it enough from the original to warrant an upgrade, I believe the Switch 2 will still go on to become a massive hit.
The success of the console is not dependent on raw processing power, as has been true with essentially every Nintendo console for four generations now.
