Today’s Wordle #1290 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, December 30th
As the year comes to a close, it’s time to focus on something else – solving today’s Wordle. And what a perfect day for it, as we wrap up December and look towards a fresh start in the new year.
Now, let’s get straight to the point. The hint for today’s Wordle is quite straightforward: “Gaze.” If you remember our previous coverage of Wordle clues, we’ve seen this type of hint before – it always means that the answer starts with the given word or phrase. With that in mind, it’s time to look at the etymology behind today’s solution.
The word “stare” originates from Old English “starian,” which translates to “to gaze, look fixedly.” This is a fascinating insight into how our language has evolved over time. The Proto-Germanic root “*starōną” also connotes the same meaning, and it ultimately stems from the Proto-Indo-European “*ster-” – this concept refers to the idea of being rigid or stiff, reflecting the notion of fixed focus.
Now that we’ve delved into the origins of the solution, let’s move on to the puzzle itself. With “Gaze” in mind, I began by using Wordle Bot to help with my guessing game. It’s amazing how this tool can provide a more structured approach to solving each day’s challenge.
After using LEANT as an opener, which surprisingly worked for many people and left them with only 16 possible words, TRADE took me down to just one option – STARE. What a relief! And it’s clear that today’s Wordle was much easier than yesterday’s, which had everyone scratching their heads.
