Volkswagen leak exposed precise location data on thousands of vehicles across Europe for months
A staggering security breach has been uncovered at Volkswagen Group’s automotive software unit Cariad, leaving the sensitive information of over 800,000 electric vehicles exposed to the internet for several months. According to reports, this exposure included the precise location coordinates of more than half of these listed vehicles – approximately 460,000 cars.
It is crucial to note that some of the location data was pinpointed with precision, down to a few centimeters, revealing the exact whereabouts of thousands of unsuspecting drivers across Germany, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
