LG Unveils Three New OLED Gaming Monitors — Including World’s First 5K2K Bendable Model
In a pre-CES 2025 announcement, LG has revealed three new UltraGear gaming monitors that promise to take the industry by storm. Among these innovative products is the world’s first-ever bendable 5K2K-resolution model.
The showstopper of this bunch is undoubtedly the UltraGear 45GX990A, a 45-inch behemoth featuring LG’s unique ‘bendable’ technology. This revolutionary design allows users to adjust the curvature of the screen between 900R and flat, catering to different seating positions or scenarios. As the winner of three CES 2025 Innovation awards, including the coveted ‘Best of Innovation’ award, this display stands out as an all-in-one smart gaming monitor empowered by LG’s webOS.
While it may not be the only new gaming monitor unveiled today, the 45GX990A is undoubtedly a game-changer. Its bendable OLED screen boasts a stunning 5K2K resolution, and its 125 pixels per inch (pi) subpixel layout ensures an incredibly immersive gaming experience. The 0.03ms GtG response time guarantees seamless visual processing.
Aside from the impressive bendable display, this monitor also comes equipped with innovative features like HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports for flexible connectivity options. Users can now seamlessly switch between various screen resolutions and refresh rates with one-touch switching via Dual-Mode technology. This feature allows users to personalize their gaming experience according to different game genres or room configurations.
The UltraGear 45GX990A also boasts a native 165Hz refresh rate at the highest resolution, but users can adjust this to reach up to a 330Hz refresh rate by decreasing the display’s resolution.
Other notable specifications include VESA DisplayHDR True Black certification and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro/Nvidia G-Sync VRR support for an optimized gaming experience.
The 45GX990A is accompanied by another star of the show, the 45GX950A. This model offers a slightly different take on the bendable technology, as it sports a fixed 800R curvature and DisplayPort 2.1 support. Although these specs differ from those found in its more flexible counterpart, users can still expect seamless connectivity options.
Lastly, LG has also announced an additional new UltraGear GX9 OLED model. The 39GX90SA is designed to cater to smaller spaces or personal preferences with a compact 39-inch screen that, too, features a 21:9 aspect ratio and fixed curvature at 800R level.
