Bill Skarsgård, known for his role as Count Orlock in the film “Nosferatu”, has expressed interest in playing either Bruce Wayne/Batman or the Joker in the DC Universe. The actor’s statements come after he finished promoting his latest project.
In an interview, Skarsgård revealed that he thinks Heath Ledger is the best Joker of all time and believes it would be “pretty sick” to portray a version similar to Mark Hamill’s Arkham games voice portrayal or the comic book depiction. He also expressed interest in playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, stating that it may not be as much of a stretch for him.
It’s worth noting that there are currently no official announcements regarding any projects featuring Skarsgård in a DC role, and he has explicitly denied rumors that he auditioned for the role of Lex Luthor or Superman. He claims that the reports were simply “confusing” and not based on actual events.
Skarsgård’s comments come at an interesting time, as the DC Universe is reportedly undergoing significant changes under the guidance of James Gunn. The filmmaker has been known to take a more inclusive approach to casting, often opting for lesser-known or up-and-coming actors instead of established stars.
In light of this news, Skarsgård’s comments may not be entirely surprising. In fact, his previous roles in projects like “It” and “Castle Rock” showcase his ability to adapt to a wide range of characters, making him an intriguing potential candidate for a DC role.
Only time will tell if Skarsgård’s statements will lead to any actual opportunities within the DC Universe.
