Apple iPhone SE 4 To Gain Surprise Name And New Design, Report Claims
A recent report suggests that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 may not be called what many of us expected – iPhone SE 4. Instead, it seems Apple is planning a surprise for us.
According to a Weibo report from Fixed Focus Digital and another source in agreement with this claim, Apple will not use the “SE” branding for its next affordable smartphone. The supposed new name, iPhone 16E, could be the biggest upgrade in the history of iPhone SE, as it would introduce an OLED screen with Face ID, USB-C port, and Apple’s in-house modem.
The reasoning behind this change is attributed to pricing concerns. Some have speculated that the new device would cost $499, which doesn’t align with the current price tags for other iPhone models. The iPhone 14 costs $599, while the iPhone 15 is priced at $699.
To avoid potential backlash if the price increases significantly, Apple might be considering a name change to make this new smartphone stand out and justify its higher cost. This could also ensure that the device maintains “clear blue water” between it and other available iPhones.
It’s worth noting that the article suggests that the phone will no longer follow the traditional pattern of copying the design from an earlier iPhone model. Instead, it will take a different approach with a new design.
