Apple TV is offering a free weekend, and I’m excited to share my top picks for what you should watch. While I’ve enjoyed many shows on the platform in 2024, there are some standout titles that I think are worth your time.
First off, let’s talk about Oppenheimer – a historical drama that clocks in at 3.5 hours, but is essential viewing considering its importance to our collective history. Be warned: it’s not an easy watch, as it tackles the darker aspects of human nature and the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for something more light-hearted, I highly recommend Bad Monkey. Despite my initial reservations about Vince Vaughn’s humor, he completely won me over with this comedy. The show follows a Miami police detective turned food inspector who gets embroiled in a mysterious case involving murder and betrayal.
Ted Lasso is another feel-good offering that will have you rooting for its charming protagonist from the very beginning. Jason Sudeikis shines as an American football coach brought to the UK to lead a struggling soccer team, despite everyone thinking he’ll fail. It’s a masterclass in tone and character development, and I think it’s perfect viewing for anyone looking to escape reality and find some hope.
Finally, if you’re into sci-fi, Silo is an excellent choice. Set in a post-nuclear world where humanity has taken refuge in an underground silo, this dystopian thriller follows Juliette Nichols as she investigates a series of murders and uncovers the dark secrets lurking beneath the surface.
Of course, these are just a few of the many shows available for free on Apple TV over the weekend. If you’re looking for more recommendations, be sure to check out my Best TV Shows of 2024 list or explore the other options below:
