Bandai Wants Gundam to Take Over Tabletop Wargaming
If you’ve wanted more Gundam outside of anime and video games, then Bandai has something in store for you. The company is taking the Gundam franchise into tabletop gaming with its new game, Gundam Assemble.
During the recent Bandai Card Games Fest, the company officially announced Gundam Assemble, a tabletop wargaming experience that uses 5cm figures to play out different scenarios inspired by the series. While some of these scenarios will be taken directly from the anime and manga, others will transcend it to offer new and unique stories.
The game’s starter figures, which are provided unpainted, each have their own distinct abilities and cater to a range of Gundam’s most iconic characters. The goal is to create an immersive experience that lets players engage with the beloved franchise in a way they never have before.
This move comes as no surprise given the growing popularity of tabletop gaming. With its success in recent years, it makes sense that Bandai would want to tap into this market and bring Gundam fans together under one banner.
It remains to be seen how successful Gundam Assemble will be, but if done correctly, there’s definitely an audience eager for more content related to the franchise.
