Elton John Jokes About His Eyesight Issues, Cheers on Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross at Golden Globes
Elton John brought his signature wit and humor to the 2025 Golden Globes, where he was in attendance to support his friend and collaborator, Taylor Swift. While speaking with media on the red carpet, John joked about his ongoing struggles with eyesight issues.
“I’ve got a confession to make,” John said with a chuckle. “I don’t think I’m supposed to be wearing glasses anymore. I mean, who’s that person walking around with coke-bottle lenses? That’s me! But you know what they say: ‘you can’t look in the mirror if you’re not prepared for some bad news’.”
John’s candor about his health issues was met with applause and laughter from the gathered press.
However, it was a different story when he took to the stage to introduce Taylor Swift’s performance. “I’m here to talk about a genius, a legend, an icon – Taylor Swift!” John declared, his voice booming through the ballroom.
John praised Swift’s commitment to her craft and her unwavering dedication to empowering young women around the world. “Taylor, you’re a shining star in our galaxy,” he said, beaming with admiration.
Later that evening, Elton John found himself cheering on Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as they took home the award for Best Original Score for their work on HBO’s The White Lotus.
