Title: Rush Reflect on ‘Incorrect’ Decision to Shorten Their Final Tour
In a recent interview, Rush drummer Neil Peart reflected on the band’s decision to shorten their final tour in 2018. The legendary Canadian rockers had initially announced plans for an extensive farewell trek, but ultimately cut the run short due to Peart’s health issues.
“It was an incorrect decision,” Peart admitted, looking back on the experience. “We were all so focused on making it work that we didn’t take the time to really think about what was best for us as a band.”
Rush had initially planned to embark on a lengthy world tour in support of their 40th-anniversary album, ‘Circa:2019’. However, due to Peart’s ongoing battle with health issues related to his carpal tunnel syndrome, the band was forced to re-evaluate their plans.
“We were all excited about doing this massive farewell tour,” Rush bassist Geddy Lee shared in a separate interview. “But Neil’s health was becoming an increasing concern for us as time went on. We had to make some tough decisions and ultimately decided to curtail the tour.”
The shortened tour, which only covered around half of the initially planned dates, left fans and critics alike feeling disappointed. Despite the setback, Rush remains one of the most beloved and influential bands in rock history, with a legacy spanning over four decades.
In response to their decision, fans took to social media to express their disappointment, stating that they had been waiting for this tour for years.
