More than one company brought a robot vacuum with a mechanical arm to CES 2025
In a surprising twist, it was revealed at CES 2025 that multiple companies have been working on developing robot vacuums equipped with mechanical arms. This news comes after Roborock unveiled its Saros Z70, a robot vacuum capable of picking up objects weighing up to 300 grams with the aid of its extendable arm.
According to sources, Dreame also showcased a prototype robot vacuum featuring an arm at their CES booth. The device is still in its developmental stages, but it appears that the company has made significant progress in refining the design and functionality of their product.
Notably, the prototype’s mechanical arm was much thicker and featured a larger “claw” compared to Roborock’s offering. This suggests that Dreame’s robot may be capable of picking up slightly heavier objects than its competitor.
While attendees at CES were unable to witness the device in action, as it wasn’t demonstrated actually picking up any objects, observers did get to see the arm extend and retract several times. Interestingly, the prototype vacuum also features a unique design that allows it to “rock” or move around on legs, similar to Dreame’s X50.
In an interview with a representative from Dreame, it was revealed that the company accelerated their plans for this product after noticing Roborock’s display of its Saros Z70. The booth in question is strategically located across from Roborock, and one can’t help but wonder if a “robot vacuum arm wrestle” might be on the cards for future CES events.
As the news spreads about these competing robot vacuums, it will be interesting to see how these companies choose to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market.
