UFC Releases 12-Year Veteran On The Heels Of 2-Fight Losing Streak
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has parted ways with a veteran fighter, Kyung Ho Kang. The 37-year-old mixed martial artist made the announcement on social media yesterday evening.
Kang, who has been under contract with the UFC since 2012, finished his time with the organization with an impressive record of 8-5-1 as a bantamweight competitor. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience, never being stopped in his fights. However, his recent performances have taken a downturn.
In his last two matches within the octagon, Kang suffered back-to-back losses to John Castaneda and Muin Gafurov. These defeats likely led to his release from the UFC. Despite this disappointing end to his time with the organization, it’s essential to acknowledge Kang’s dedication and perseverance throughout his 12-year tenure.
It’s worth noting that other news surrounding the UFC has been released today. In an unexpected turn of events, UFC President Dana White revealed nearly the entire lineup for the upcoming event in Seattle scheduled for February 22nd. The card boasts a star-studded lineup featuring two former champions, Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz, as well as hometown hero Michael Chiesa.
In a surprise move, the organization has also decided to feature multiple high-profile matches on this particular card. Notable bouts include Rob Font vs. Dominick Cruz in the men’s bantamweight division, Ketlen Vieira vs. Macy Chiasson in the women’s bantamweight, and Edson Barboza vs. Steve Garcia in the featherweight.
In other news, Curtis Blaydes will face off against Rizvan Kuniev in the heavyweight category, while Brendan Allen will take on Anthony Hernandez in the middleweight division. Ion Cutelaba and Ibo Aslan will go head-to-head in the light heavyweight bout.
Additionally, Adam Fugitt has been pitted against Islam Dulatov in the welterweight fight, and Jean Silva will face Melsik Baghdasaryan in the featherweight division. Modestas Bukauskas is set to collide with Raffaele Cerqueira in the light heavyweight category, as well as Muhammad Abdul-Malik’s bout with Antônio Trócoli, which will take place in the middleweight.
It is unclear at this time who Michael Chiesa and Chidi Njokuani will be facing.
