Google Can Turn Your Discover Feed into an AI-Generated Podcast
In a recent test phase, Google has been experimenting with an innovative AI feature that transforms your Discover feed history into an AI-generated podcast. Dubbed “Daily Listen,” the experimental tool aims to provide users with a personalized five-minute audio summarization of topics you’ve shown interest in.
According to reports, Daily Listen references search data and interactions within the Discover feed to assess which news articles would be most engaging for each individual user. This information is then used to create a concise audio overview that covers a range of related topics. The feature also comes with additional functionality, including a text transcript and intuitive controls for playback, allowing users to pause, rewind, or skip through stories.
Users who opt-in to try the experiment will find Daily Listen within the personalized widget carousel situated beneath the Search bar at the top of the Google app. A “Related Stories” tab has been added to the audio player’s bottom section, enabling users to like or dislike each story and explore new topics.
While there is no word on when this feature might become available to the general public, Google has previously tested similar AI-driven features through its Search Labs program before releasing them more widely. It is possible that Daily Listen may eventually evolve into a persistent component within the search experience – hopefully one that can be easily opted out of, unlike some previous experiments.
For now, Daily Listen remains an exclusive offering for those who have chosen to participate in Google’s Search Labs testing phase.
