Google Can Automatically Make Podcast Based On Your Discover Feed
In a new experiment, Google has made available a feature called “Daily Listen” that allows users to generate podcasts based on their interests and preferences. The feature is now live in the US and can be accessed by tapping on the flask icon at the top left of the Google app.
The Daily Listen card is located underneath the Search bar in the Google app for both Android and iOS devices. Once activated, it presents a text transcript and audio controls, allowing users to customize their listening experience. The feature includes a thumbs up or down option to provide feedback to Google on the quality of the podcast.
What sets this experiment apart from other similar tools is its ability to create podcasts based on individual user preferences. By leveraging data from the Discover feed, Daily Listen generates a podcast episode around 5 minutes in length that provides an overview of the latest news and information related to the topics you typically follow.
It’s worth noting that Google has a history with similar experiments. Last year, they released NotebookLM, which used AI to generate podcasts based on user-input materials. The new Daily Listen feature seems to be building upon that technology.
As of now, it is unclear whether or not Google plans to roll out the feature to other regions beyond the US. However, there are no guarantees that it will receive a widespread release.
For those interested in giving the feature a try, keep an eye on your Google app for any updates or notifications regarding the Daily Listen experiment.
