Title: Diplo Accuser Drops Revenge Porn Lawsuit — for Now — After Judge Says She Must Use Real Name
The woman who accused DJ and producer Diplo of sexual battery and assault has dropped her revenge porn lawsuit against him, at least for the time being. The decision comes after a judge ruled that she must use her real name in the case, rather than proceeding under a pseudonym.
As Billboard previously reported, the accuser had sought damages from Diplo (real name Thomas Wesley Pentz) over allegations of sexual battery and assault, as well as revenge porn. However, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has now denied her request to proceed with the lawsuit anonymously.
According to court documents, the accuser initially attempted to maintain her anonymity by using only her initials in the lawsuit. However, Judge Mary Strobel rejected this request, citing California law that requires plaintiffs to identify themselves publicly when filing legal claims.
As a result, the accuser has reportedly dropped the lawsuit for the time being, pending further developments. It’s unclear at present whether she will refile under her real name or seek an appeal.
Diplo has denied all allegations made against him and continues to maintain his innocence in the matter.
