Tommy Lee Slams Artists for Promoting Music Amidst Devastating Los Angeles Wildfires
Marilyn Manson drummer Tommy Lee has taken to social media to express his frustration with artists who are continuing to promote their music and tours despite the devastating wildfires raging in Los Angeles. The drummer, known for his outspoken nature, took to Instagram to share his thoughts.
“Just saw a bunch of artists posting about their upcoming shows and new music drop… WHILE THE CITY IS ON FIRE,” Lee began his post. “Like, come on, guys! Can’t you see what’s going on? LA is literally burning down and you’re still trying to get those views and streams?”
Lee went on to criticize the lack of empathy and sensitivity displayed by some artists in the music industry, stating that they should be prioritizing the well-being of their fans and the community over promoting their own projects.
“I’m not asking for much. Just a little bit of compassion and understanding would go a long way right now. Your fans are scared, stressed, and displaced… They’re losing everything they’ve worked for! And you’re just trying to capitalize off this chaos?”
The drummer concluded his post by expressing his hope that the artists in question will take a moment to reflect on their actions and consider the impact it may have on those affected by the disaster.
“Maybe take a step back and think about how your actions are perceived. I’m not saying don’t promote your music, but maybe wait until people aren’t trying to evacuate their homes or deal with toxic air quality? Just saying…”
The criticism comes as Nine Inch Nails has confirmed a tour, which has been met with some backlash on social media due to the timing of the announcement.
