Hong Kong Monetary Authority Warns of Fraudulent Chong Hing Bank Website
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen masquerading as Chong Hing Bank Limited. This alert aims to protect the public from potential phishing scams.
According to reports, a deceptive website and internet banking login screen have been designed to mimic those of Chong Hing Bank, with the aim of extracting sensitive information from unsuspecting users.
To prevent such fraudulent activities, the HKMA has emphasized that legitimate banks do not send emails or SMS messages containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites for transactions. Furthermore, banks will never request sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords, via phone, email, or SMS, including through embedded links.
The HKMA urges the public to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid falling victim to these scams.
