Chris Christie Tears Into Gov. Newsom Over ‘Enormous Failure’ Wildfire Response: ‘Do Your Damn Job!’
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie sharply criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday, accusing him of shirking his responsibilities during the recent wildfires and dodging accountability for the disaster.
Christie’s scathing remarks came as Newsom faced mounting criticism over his administration’s handling of the crisis, including allegations that he failed to adequately prepare for the disaster and ignored warnings from fire officials.
“You’re a governor,” Christie said. “Do your damn job! This is an enormous failure, Governor Newsom.”
The former governor’s harsh words were directed at Newsom’s response to the devastating wildfires, which have left thousands of people homeless and numerous fatalities.
Newsom has faced intense scrutiny over his administration’s actions before and during the fires, including allegations that he failed to adequately prepare for the disaster. The governor was overseas when the fire began and did not immediately return to California to address the crisis.
In response to the disaster, Christie lambasted Newsom’s handling of the situation, stating that it is “absolutely unacceptable” for a governor to be absent during such a catastrophic event.
