Google makes AI features inside Workspace apps free for business customers
In a move to keep pace with Microsoft and other competitors in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) market, Google has announced that it will now offer all its AI-powered features inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, and the rest of the Workspace suite at no extra cost to paying business customers. This significant change comes as a response to the growing demand for AI-driven tools in the workplace.
Under this new policy, users can access powerful AI capabilities within their existing Workspace plans without having to pay an additional $20 per user per month for the Gemini Business plan. The updated pricing means that businesses will now have to pay roughly $2 more per month per user than they did previously.
Google’s president of cloud applications, Jerry Dischler, emphasized in a statement that this change aims to make AI adoption easier and more accessible for businesses worldwide. He highlighted that the key challenge many organizations face when embracing AI is cost, which can be a significant obstacle.
“We understand that many companies are hesitant to adopt AI due to its perceived high cost,” said Dischler. “By making these features free, we hope to overcome this barrier and empower businesses to unlock the full potential of AI in their operations.”
This move comes as no surprise, considering Microsoft’s recent announcement that it will also be offering Copilot Pro AI features as part of its standard Microsoft 365 subscription for Personal and Family plans. These changes are expected to have a significant impact on the B2B AI landscape.
Google’s new pricing strategy reflects its commitment to providing innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of businesses in today’s digital age.
