Ethereum Staking Meets Social Impact: Lido Impact Staking Officially Launches

Lido Impact Staking (LIS) has officially launched on January 15, 2025, introducing a groundbreaking approach to sustainable social impact funding. By leveraging Ethereum staking rewards and the proven middleware of Lido’s ecosystem, LIS is poised to revolutionize philanthropy.

Through this innovative model, users can stake ETH, stETH, or wstETH and allocate a percentage of staking rewards to socially impactful projects that align with their values. This empowering approach allows individuals, organizations, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to support causes transparently and perpetually without relinquishing control over their capital.

The core feature of LIS is its permissionless framework, which permits any social impact project to register on the platform. By democratizing philanthropy, LIS paves the way for a new era of accessible, sustainable social impact creation.

This milestone marks a significant shift in the Ethereum staking landscape, as it highlights the potential for the decentralized network to drive maximum positive impact.

LIS is built on the foundation laid by Launchnodes, a company that has been supporting global customers in solo-staking Ethereum and running their own ETH nodes and infrastructure since 2020. The Lido Ecosystem Grants Organization (LEGO) provided a grant to Launchnodes in 2023, enabling the development of an Impact Staking platform. This collaboration resulted in LIS.

The newly launched platform is now actively engaging with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, charities, family offices, foundations, and other stakeholders in the philanthropy space. These entities are eager to explore the potential of LIS as a pioneering model for driving social impact.
